10 “fly on the wall” moments in the… OT history books
The OT History Books consist of Joshua through Esther. This list was hard to cut down to only 10!
10. 1 Kings 6:1-38 – Solomon has the temple built.
9. 2 Kings 23:1-25 - Josiah lays the smack down on Israel and brings the country back to worshiping Yahweh.
8. Judges 16:23-30 - Samson brings down the Philistine temple with his bare hands and without having eyes, killing thousands (more than he had killed during the rest of his life).
7. 1 Kings 17:7-24 - Elijah brings a widow and her son never-ending flour and oil, and even better, raises her son from the dead!
6. Joshua 10:9-14 – God makes the sun stand still (well, keeps the Earth from moving, I guess).
5. Joshua 6:15-20 – The Israelites circle Jericho on the seventh day, scream at the top of their lungs, and God brings down the walls of Jericho.
4. 2 Kings 2:1-12 – Chariot of fire, horses of fire, and a whirlwind express to heaven for Elijah. That had to have been crazy!
3. 1 Samuel 17 – David spanks Goliath!
2. I Kings 19:9-13 - The Lord appears to Elijah (and there is some crazy junk too).
1. I Kings 18:16-40 – Elijah went “toe to toe” with the 450 prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel and God sends down some sick nasty fire from heaven!
What would your list look like? What other OT history books scenes would be on your top ten?
Coming up next… ten scenes from the OT writings.

Thanks for the idea, Cody. My list is here.
There are a lot more possibilities. Neither of us mentioned watching David composing, or being chased by Saul, or Jeremiah in the well, for instance.
